Child in hospital with critical injuries after serious incident at Bader property in Hamilton, major police operation under way

A child has been rushed to hospital with critical injuries after a serious incident in Hamilton.

The Herald understands the incident involved weapons and police say two adults are also in hospital with injuries.

Police and St John ambulance were called to reports of a “violent altercation” at an address on Anthony Cr in Bader about 5.20pm.

Two adults at the property were also hurt. They were taken to Waikato Hospital, where they remain with moderate and serious injuries.

Police have arrested a person of interest and say they are not looking for anybody else. This person was not hospitalised, a spokeswoman said.

Officers were due to remain at the property overnight and a scene examination continues.

Police declined to provide any further details, including whether the detained person faces any charges or if they will appear in court.

The Herald understands there is a major police investigation underway at the Anthony Cr property while the child fights for their life.

A police spokeswoman said they would provide an update tomorrow.
