Customers of a Cambridge cafe escaped injury after the driver of a car accidentally drove into the business.

Waikato police Senior Sergeant Pete van de Wetering said the car crashed into the Robert Harris Cafe just after 11am today.

Although there was a customer inside the shop at the time, nobody was injured.

The driver of the car also escaped injury, he said.

A tow truck has been called to help remove the vehicle from the cafe which has since been closed.
