Broadband benefit to be explained

Waikato businesses will be shown the practical benefits of ultrafast broadband at an event in Hamilton later this month.

Opportunity Hamilton's Fibre and Technology Forum, fronted by Hamilton IT expert David Hallett, will inform businesses how ultrafast broadband technology investment will provide benefits.

Digital Hamilton project manager Nicola Browne says the forum will outline how businesses can use changing technology and increased broadband speeds to save time and money.

"We will inform in plain English how businessmen can benefit from investing in fibre technology. There is potential for business to grow their markets, connect with their customers and possibly reduce costs," Nicola says.

Planning for the future is essential for business. The event will provide ideas on future "technology roadmaps".

Hamilton businesses are among the first in the country with the opportunity to connect to ultrafast broadband.

Up to 1400 business premises should be able to connect to the Ultrafast Fibre network from this month.

The forum is the first of a series planned by the economic development agency, with similar events to be held for the health and digital communications sectors in the next few months.

The forum, a partnership between Opportunity Hamilton, Wintec, Ultrafast Broadband, Prima Group and Indiefilm Productions, will be held at the Atrium, Wintec House, Hamilton, on April 26 from 5.30pm to 7pm.
