Te Awamutu RSA has planned a modified Armistice Day for Covid-affected 2021 - including running the Peace Fountain in Te Awamutu War Memorial Park.
Members have already placed World War I crosses on Anzac Green - a poignant illustration of the loss of life and sacrifices made by our forebears.
The Peace Fountain in Memorial Park will be temporarily connected to a pump and water supply, and will be operating today and Sunday for members of the public to view and enjoy.
The local lockdown levels will unfortunately limit the usual Armistice commemoration to only 25 attending the Anzac Green service on Sunday.
Today flags will be raised at the Te Awamutu Service Cemetery and Kihikihi, and at 11am a small commemorative service and wreath laying will be held at the Tokanui Cemetery.
That service is unavailable for public access and attendance due to lockdown restrictions.

Members of the public are invited to place their own wreaths and commemorations at the cenotaph from today until Sunday and view the crosses.
Te Awamutu RSA is appreciative of the support received from Waipā District Council parks and reserve staff, led by Craig McCurdy, for the replacement of the Anzac Green flagpole halyard, which was recently vandalised.
