Police are seeking a male offender in a white car who has shot a 14-year-old male.

Police are seeking a male offender in a white car who has shot a 14-year-old male.

A 17-year-old boy has been shot on a street in Hamilton, in what is now the third shooting incident on the same street in sixteen months.

Police and Armed Offenders Squad were at Norrie St just after 8.30pm today where gunshots were fired.

Police were now looking for a man in a white car, who shot the teen this evening. The teenager's injuries were not considered serious but he was receiving medical attention.

Police have cordoned off the Peacockes Rd and Norrie Street.

A staff member at Sheetal Indian Takeways on nearby Bader St said he didn't see anything but there were seven police cars parked outside his shop.

This incident comes after a shooting last Saturday at 4am on Norrie St where a man was shot in the leg.

He received a thigh wound causing minor injury.

Police said at the time there was no risk to the public

In February last year, a 29-year-old man Michael James Thompson was shot at close range.

He died a short time later at Waikato Hospital.

Police were called out after hearing reports of an altercation between several men.

Despite previous reports of the teenager's age being 14, police say he is 17 years old. He had minor injuries.

While police and Armed Offenders Squad have cleared an address, the house where the shooting occurred would be guarded overnight.

Police were also working to clear another address in a different neighbourhood.

Police were not drawing links to Saturday's incident on Norrie Street at this time.

Police were still looking for a white car and urged any suspicious activity be reported to 111.

Police did not believe there was any danger to the public but anyone who witnessed suspicious activity to call 111.

Anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation could Detective Sergeant Terry Wilson at 07 858 6200.
