Armed police have surrounded an address in a Hamilton suburb after a stabbing incident left two people injured.
The incident occurred at an address in Merlot Place in the Rototuna suburb, shortly after 2pm today, police confirmed.
Senior Sergeant Andrew O'Reilly said due to the nature of the incident: "Police went to the scene with their tactical options and firearms were involved".
He said a man and a woman were injured and admitted to Waikato hospital.
A man was in custody at Hamilton Police Station assisting with inquiries.
