Anthony Brett Clegg has been arrested after a two-week manhunt in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Hamilton last month.

The man died of a gunshot wound at a house on Seddon Rd in Frankton on May 30.

Clegg, 39, had a warrant out for his arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting.

Police said he was avoiding them and warned the public he should not be approached.

He was arrested in Te Awamutu today and will appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow, a police spokeswoman said.

A 23-year-old woman was charged on May 31 over the shooting. She is alleged to have used a makeshift weapon which accidentally discharged and killed the man.
