The name of the man who died in a workplace accident at a Hamilton warehouse has been released by police.

He was Jacob Campbell Thomas Woods, 18.

Woods died from crushing injuries believed to have occurred after he got trapped between a swing lift and a shipping container at Torpedo 7's distribution warehouse on Sharpe Rd, Rukuhia, about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Woods was an employee of Hamilton transport company Altranz.

Police extend their condolences to his family and his colleagues at this difficult time.
