Speaking of having your own label, if you're into celebrity shenanigans, everyone worth their ostrich skin handbag, Jimmy Choo's or Learjet appears to be getting in on the wine game.

Recently, Dave Stewart of 80s pop powerhouse the Eurythmics launched his own Aussie wine label and this week word hit the street that Ms Lady Lumps herself, Fergie of Black Eyed Peas fame (real name Stacey Ann Ferguson), has launched her own estate label Ferguson Crest from her vineyard in California's Santa Ynez valley.

"It's an investment. I'm investing in real estate," she told Forbes Life magazine. "Plus, my dad is going to have a great house," she said.

Her father, Pat Ferguson, is a horticulturalist and presumably will be looking after the vineyard.

Dave Stewart teamed with award-winning Australian winemakers Mollydooker to create his limited edition 2010 The Ringmaster General, a McLaren Vale Shiraz named after his solo album expected out in September.

Priced at US$125 ($162.95) a bottle, it comes gift boxed with a DVD documentary featuring Stewart and his collaborators, such as Stevie Nicks and Alison Krauss.

Drew Barrymore launched her Barrymore 2011 Pinot Grigio recently and apparently it's very good: "Crisp, fruity, dynamic and fun," according to her people.

Barrymore was quoted in Wine Spectator as saying, "I love wine, and it's always fun when you can do something in your work life that you love in your personal life".

Sceptics can suck on the fact that it won a gold medal at Le Challenge International du Vin, the largest international wine competition in France.

Francis Ford Coppola has been making wine for decades and Andrea Bocelli (Bocelli Family Wines), Dan Aykroyd, Sam Neill (Two Paddocks) and Antonio Banderas (Anta Banderas) have vaulted into viticulture.

Madonna's dad has a vineyard (Ciccone Vineyard in Michigan) and rumour has it Lady Gaga has ditched the quirky, dainty teacups and is looking to own her own vineyard in California's Sonoma County.
