Tasman Village, a lifestyle village nestled in Morrinsville in the heart of the Waikato, is home to almost 70 people.

It consists of 51 units, with another 11 sites ready to build on and development planned for a further 12 sites. Morrinsville is a friendly rural town with a population of about 6000. It is very centrally situated, being only a 20-minute drive from central Hamilton, just under two hours from Auckland's Queen Street and within easy distance of Tauranga, Rotorua, Waihi and the Coromandel Peninsula.

Residents in the village are able to maintain their own independence but feel safe in the knowledge that others are close by.

There is always plenty to do, as almost every day residents meet in the hall to play cards, Rummicub or snooker.

On other days, there are organised exercises and games of indoor bowls and bingo, and occasionally the residents get together for soup evenings, happy hour or other functions.

Each resident can choose how much or how little they want to be involved, providing companionship and activities for those who want it and the option of privacy and solitude for those who don't.

As one couple says, "We came to Tasman Village over six years ago. We were at the beginning of our 70s, our health was beginning to break down and we faced the possibility of losing one of us. We looked for a place to spend our final years together - we found it here.

"This is a tranquil village, with happy people to love and play with.

"We have a comfy, modern home that is easy to maintain, with help nearby should we need it. We have the security of others with us and around us, yet the privacy of our own place to retire to.

"Life continues with vitality and contentment for us here in this 'happy place'. Come and join us!"

The village has well laid-out north-facing units designed with privacy in mind.

They are warm, spacious and easy to maintain, while being wheelchair-accessible and having St Johns Lifelink Medical Alarms available for each resident.

A common comment heard when people visit the village is that they are surprised at how spacious it is, with plenty of room between units and lots of open ground.

Each unit in Tasman Village consists of 2-3 bedrooms and a single garage, and is sold on a Unit Freehold Title, meaning you own your own home just as you would in town.

A small monthly charge is paid to the village to cover the insurance and maintenance on each unit and the village running costs.
