We are ecstatic the summer weather seems to be improving, but being stuck inside in the office when the sun is shining can be a little bit frustrating. Returning to work in summer isn't always easy so, to keep us motivated, we have come up with a few tips and tricks to beat the back-to-work blues.

Head outside

The simplest way to keep your spirits up when returning to work is to make sure you take your lunch break, regardless of how busy you may be. When the sun is out, head outdoors and find a spot in the shade to catch up with friends or enjoy a book. Things tend to get rather hectic in the Simply You office when we're putting the next issue together, but the team still tries to head outdoors just to stretch our legs and get some fresh air.

Move it

Exercise is great for beating the blues, so if you're lucky enough to have a long lunch break, consider heading to the gym or slipping into your workout gear and heading out for a walk. If you can't manage to fit in a quick workout on your lunch break, then it is the season to make the most of daylight savings.

After a busy day in the office it's sometimes hard to find the motivation to get to the gym. Working out with friends is a quick solution, as excuses aren't quite as easy to make when you have someone else you need to answer to. Grab your girlfriends, maximise the good weather and hit the pavement as a team.

Chill for free

At the end of a stressful week, it's nice to leave the worries of work behind and go home to relax. There's no need to head away every weekend over summer, but making the weekends count will make Monday seem easier when it rolls around again. Read your local council's website to find out what's going on in your city, and make the most of free events that are happening around the country over the summer months.

So spa away

There's nothing wrong with indulging in a little pampering every now and then to boost the spirits. If you're short on time, consider heading to the closest nail salon to indulge in a quick manicure or pedicure in your lunch break.

When the bank balance and time allow, heading to a day spa with girlfriends is a great way to revitalise after a long week.
