Auckland's The Bloodbags and Wellington's Tape Wolves have been touring new releases, visiting Whanganui, Pahiatua, Palmerston North and Wellington over the past week.

The Bloodbags have released the EP Busted Chops, featuring four unreleased tracks on blood red 7-inch vinyl, while the Mysterious Tape Wolves have released Esoteric Surf Trash, 22 tracks including 13 unreleased songs.

Both releases are from Stink Magnetic Records.

The tour continues on May 19 at Christchurch's Darkroom and June 2 at Auckland's Golden Dawn.

New Zealand's answer to Fleetwood Mac, The Miltones, have released a second single, with news of an album expected soon.

Glory was recorded in the Sitting Rooms of Lyttleton producer Ben Edwards and is described as an anthem.

The song, which perhaps lends itself more to Jefferson Airplane than Fleetwood Mac, is
the plea of a young woman devastated by the loss of her beloved father desperately searching for an avenue to come to terms with her loss.

Two Australian acts have announced New Zealand concert dates.

Polish Club, whose debut album Alright Already came out in March, will play Auckland's Whammy! Bar on June 30 and Wellington's Meow on July 1.

The Sydney rock/soul duo's shows are said to be loud, raw and "sweaty".

Says publicity: "Alright Already is a Stax meets Stooges slab of highly combustible bunker soul tunes ... a savage swing of vintage rock'n'roll colliding with a pleading pitch of classic, gravel gargling soul."

Meanwhile, Wollongong's The Pinheads will be playing three North Island dates, accompanied by Ghost Wave.

The seven-piece will be playing music from their new self-titled debut album when they visit Wellington's Valhalla on July 13, Tauranga's Totara St on July 14 and Auckland's Whammy! Bar on July 15.

The album, released this Friday, includes new track Gimme Back (video above) which, according to publicity, "comes with an outlandish visual treatment complete with infernal scenes reminiscent of 1973 horror classic The Wicker Man."

- SoundBites is a weekly compilation of music bits and bobs, and also appears in NZME's regional newspapers.
