Even with the perfect wardrobe, nothing says polished perfection like healthy, lustrous tresses. However, harsh summer sun, fierce air-conditioning and wind can all wreak havoc on our hair. Follow these simple tips to tackle problem hair head-on.

Even if you've avoided the sun this summer, coloured hair is generally
weaker than uncoloured hair and needs special attention. Regular shampoos have sulphates that can dry out hair and strip once-radiant locks of colour.

Try using sulphate-free options, such as Kerastase Chroma Sensitive Cleaning Balm or L'Oreal Professionnel. Sulphate-free shampoo takes a little getting used to as it doesn't create the same lather and foam your regular shampoo does. Enhance your new regime by using a deep-conditioning treatment for coloured hair every three washes.

If your tresses are suffering from a case of uncontrollable frizz, then it's time to treat them to some serious TLC. Rebellious locks tend to lack moisture, therefore it's important to invest in a care regime to smooth and hydrate them. Joico's Moisture Recovery range traps moisture and retains it, even once heat is applied. Excessive styling with heat tools won't help a bad frizzy-hair situation.

Try to save straightening your hair for special occasions, or use a protective heat spray that will minimise the negative effects of the heat.

Limp, fine hair can get easily weighed down with styling products and dirt and oil build-up. Washing your hair everyday will remedy this, just ensure you're using a professional, pH-balanced shampoo. Once you've washed your hair, your primary focus is going to be creating volume - flip your head upside down and blast with a hairdryer to inject volume. Keep hair looking full and bouncy all day by using lightweight styling products sparingly and a soft mist of hairspray.
