Old Mout Passionfruit & Cider

Alcohol per cent: 5.8

Taste: Strong zesty flavour that manages to maintain a fine sweet-and-sour balance. A great summer drink. The cider makers at Old Mout Cider have come up with a great summery drink with their latest passionfruit-inspired offering.

Old Mout Passionfruit & Cider is a pleasing blend of apple cider and passionfruit wine - the perfect drop for a long, relaxing afternoon on the deck.

The smell of ripe passionfruit rises from the bottle once opened.

It has a strong zesty flavour but the makers have managed to capture a fine sweet-and-sour balance.

It is also pleasing on the eye - a gentle, soft gold.

Cider, a fermented alcoholic beverage made from fruit juice, most commonly and traditionally apple juice, has grown in popularity in New Zealand.

Historically the smallest alcoholic beverage market in the country, it is now one of the fastest-growing.

Cider sales have also boomed in Britain and the United States. This rise in popularity has seen the variety and quality of ciders on offer grow.

As well as traditional, purely apple ciders, Nelson-based Old Mout Cider has introduced a range of new ciders blended with fruit wine to make Old Mout Boysencider and Feijoa & Cider.

Old Mout's latest passionfruit offering continues on that path.

The makers recommend enjoying their latest drop with chilli prawns, chicken salad and all manner of other foods you would lay out on a picnic rug.
