Can't be too many albums these days that boast only three tracks.

But when your 13-minute epic isn't even the longest song on your LP, you're not going to fit that many on anyway.

Wellington band The Nudge this week release their sophomore record Dark Arts, and the title is fitting.

A moody, mesmerising journey through psychedelia, the album is perfect late-night medicine for your soul, a happy marriage of the trippier moments of Pink Floyd, the Doors and Tame Impala.

The title track, a catchy, upbeat rocker, is driven by a dirty riff that you'd wish would go on forever.

Middle song The Balance Change, that 13-minute effort, delivers soaring and grinding guitars, hyperactive drums and a steady groove in a massive stoner rock jam.

The prog princes' pièce de résistance is Bring Me Your Love Parts I, II and III, a 24-minute hypnotic masterpiece of desert rock, funk rock and acid rock that embraces the dark and natural sounds and rhythms of the Earth.

These Dark Arts will leave you spellbound.
