The lads from Rotorua five-piece Loop Road say they like to have a bit of fun when writing.

Listening to their self-titled EP you can tell, especially on the fifth and closing track Wine and Roses, with a feelgood singalong chorus reminiscent of Stereophonics' Kelly Jones, and a catchy guitar lick.

You can imagine the band jamming away and coming up with the track, the standout on this collection.

All the tracks ooze with rustic authenticity, most suitable for the country tinge evident.

The bluesy opener Mind Messed Up showcases great throaty vocals from Sam Burgess, while Time Wasted and Alright have a warm 70s vibe.

Perfect open-road driving music, it'll leave you wanting more.

Good thing an album's on the way.
