I can't profess to have ever been a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise.

Fancy cars driven fast, big burly men competing for whoever has the most testosterone, and let's not forget the cheese factor - you know, those awful one-liners or predictable guy-gets-girl outcome or stunts so ludicrous they simply can't be believed.

Frankly, I'd rather leave this kind of film for the boys normally.

But Fast & Furious 6 could quite possibly be so good, all of the "urgh-factor" from any previous films could be forgiven.

Furious 6 is big. It has big cast, big cast members (cue The Rock), big stunts on big bridges and big challenges for the original "crew".

It is also set in four countries with all original cast members, including the interesting return of Michelle Rodriguez's character "Letty".

This acts as the catalyst for the "crew" banding together again in attempt to "bring her home" and, of course, help save the world from a major terrorist threat.

The hard-core action is offset with well-timed humour, often at the expense of some of the actors, and plot twists which send the movie into other directions.

And then there is the scene with the tank.

Without giving the game away, this has got to be one of the best action scenes I think I've seen for some time.

And there are several great fast-paced and death-defying chases to be had.

Furious 6 is cleverly put together, with plenty of references to its history for fans to recognise, but still delivers enough that it is a movie in its own right (not just the sixth in a line-up of movies about cars and car thieves).

It has plenty to offer all sorts of viewers, whether they be family groups, date nights or a bunch of mates.

Fans eager to find out what happens next will want to hang back at the end of the movie for a taste of what is to come in the next instalment of the franchise, which looks very, very good.

Can't believe I'd say it, but if Furious 6 is anything to go by then bring on Furious 7!

Two thumbs up.
