Tonight's Jazz in the Quarry is Hillcrest High School's Scat Choir's first event of the year.
The concert, at the Waitakaruru Arboretum and Sculpture Park, Scotsman Valley Rd, starts at 6pm.
Gates open at 5.30pm and guests can take a picnic and chair, enjoy the music and share in the80 sculptures exhibited in the park.
Former Scat members Sarah Radford, Sophie Allen Nairn and Kahu Coyle-Puke will also perform. Sarah has completed a degree in jazz vocals at NZ School of Music, Sophie is studying a conjoint law and arts degree at Waikato University including vocal performance and Kahu is taking a gap year.
Hillcrest High School assistant principal Susan Radford founded the Scat Choir and is in her 27th year as director. The Scat Choir is a touring choir and each year travels nationally or internationally to events and festivals.
This concert is a fundraiser for a proposed tour to Fiji. The choir comprises 56 girls and boys from Year 9 to 13.
