Umbrella storage
Time to pack up the sun umbrellas for winter. Give the canvas a good clean to get rid of any mould or moss, oil the timber bits and any moving metal parts, and store in a dry, airy place.
Hardy herbs
Plant fresh batches of parsley and coriander
for winter cooking. Both are hardy and will grow outside in a sunny situation.
Water management
Don't drown your indoor plants. Their growth will have slowed down for winter so check how much water they're using and reduce water and food.
Damp drainage
Remove saucers from under your outdoor pots now that wet weather is here - they'll be needing drainage more than water.
