Plant for spring
Remind yourself that winter won't last forever by planting strawberries now. Also continue to plant shallots and brassicas for spring. Plant speedy Asian greens like bok choy and mizuna around slowcoach brassicas such as cabbages, cauliflowers and broccoli.
Time for a good feed
Give winter annuals a
liquid feed to keep them up to the mark. A teaspoon of dried blood and bone around primula and polyanthus is great for extra flower power.
Free perennials
Divide clumps of dormant perennials like hostas and delphiniums to increase your plant numbers.
Dig out lawn weeds
If your lawn's not too soggy to walk on, check for unwanted weeds and dig them out. Make sure you get the bulbs and the whole root structure where possible.
