Be prepared
Sow summer crops in trays indoors, so they're ready to plant mid-spring. You'll need to transplant tomatoes and peppers into individual pots for a wee while before they go outside in October.
Eat your greens
Bet you're hanging out for salad greens. Sow rocket and mesclun salad mixes
in trays for baby salad greens - you could be eating them in three of four weeks.
Glamorous globes
Give globe artichokes a go this season. They're such exotic-looking things and they'll add glamour and variety to the vege garden.
Get into shape
Leave your plum trees alone but prune your apple trees if they need it. Aim to increase air flow and keep the tree to a manageable size and shape for picking.
