This is a third-person shooter that on the surface looks generic and cliched, but hides a deep, dark and meaningful undertone that will have you reflecting on the decisions you have made as the story unfolds.
It's been six months since Dubai was destroyed by the mother of all sandstorms.Thousands of lives were lost, including those of American soldiers sent to evacuate the city. The city now lies buried under sand - what was once the most opulent city on earth is a barren disaster zone. A mysterious radio signal is picked up from Dubai, and a Delta Recon Team is sent to infiltrate the city, locate survivors for evacuation.
Delta Team soon discover that they are far from alone and the city is embroiled in a battle of factions, including their own brethren who have abandoned their posts and loyalties. It's kill or be killed and danger lurks around every corner - as do decisions that don't affect individual missions but do shape the way your character evolves and how other characters interact with him.
Combat revolves strongly around taking cover and making intelligent choices, but the cover system is mapped to the melee button.
Quite often you'll punch a concrete block instead of sliding into it or vaulting over it - which means your untimely demise. Other than that, there's little to complain about.
The Line is very story-driven and demands to be played to the finish - the six-hour campaign means it's a top-quality rental as there's nothing in the multiplayer to warrant purchasing for longevity's sake.
