Visually it delivers an exceptional game, and the game play is easy pick up if you are familiar with first-person shooters.
What separates Rage from the pack is that while it is a delightful first-person shooting romp it integrates a great range of other gaming elements to help mix up the action.
To get from point A to point B you need to drive - and being a wasteland, this is no Sunday cruise.
Laden with gun-toting bandits, it provides a fun change in pace.
There's also a surprisingly addictive card game, plus a few other gems hidden away.
The biggest weakness is the auto-saving being on the rather limited side - restarting miles away from an untimely death certainly unleashes rage all right.
