4 Bag
A cross-body bag is a good option for a weekend away because it provides space for some of your travel essentials plus what you'd usually carry in your handbag. Statement colours are an easy way to accessorise an outfit if you aren't taking much else with you, or opt for classics that you will wear for years. A tote is another really versatile style.
5 Watch
When you aren't glued to your cellphone over your weekend away, you'll need a way to keep track of the time. A watch is a functional - and pretty - accessory.
6 Swimsuit
I'd go for a strapless one-piece over a skimpy bikini any time - and not just because I haven't seen the inside of a gym as much as I should have lately. Look for a swimsuit with structure to give support where you need it. A solid colour will look good paired with a patterned wrap when you are out of the water.
7 Blazer
Give your holiday outfits casual elegance with a blazer for cooler evenings. Sling one over a maxi dress or pair it with a play suit.
8 Cuffed shorts
For some reason, cuffed shorts look a little bit less determinedly casual than other styles. A white or black pair can be dressed up or down and will go with almost anything.
9 Sparkly sandals
No one wants to be teetering around in heels at the beach but sometimes it's good to be able to slip your feet into something a little bit dressier. Sandals with a touch of bling will take you from seaside lounging to a long lunch out.
10 Jewellery
Sometimes a night out can sneak up on you. Plan by packing something sparkly. A pair of studs or a simple pendant will dress up your outfit. Or follow the current trend for birthstone jewellery.
