The Underbelly franchise has been a phenomenal success since first hitting TV screens in Australia in 2008.

And five series have not been enough to dampen the enthusiasm for looking into the lives of some of the most notorious criminals from across the ditch.

Underbelly: Badness continues a winning theme with Anthony "Rooster" Perish as the man taking centre stage. For a decade, Perish ruled his empire and a sizeable chunk of the drug world without the police even knowing of his existence.

He was the invisible man.

His big mistake was to attract the attention of Detective Sergeant Gary Jubelin (Matt Nable) by killing and disposing of the body of the man he thought had killed his grandparents.

Jubelin was a gritty cop who never gave up on a case.

Hunting a killer, he eventually stumbled on to the ghost who was the underworld figure Rooster Perish.

He soon knew he had his man, but could he stay the distance and catch him?

Putting his personal life on the line, Jubelin sacrificed everything in his relentless hunt for a man who was becoming increasingly paranoid about what the police were up to and who was "dogging" him to the cops.

Underbelly: Badness serves the franchise well. A good crim is the basis for any series and they have found another special one.
