DVD review: Tower Heist (+trailer)

Ben Stiller is an unusual actor - he plays plenty of comedy roles but he often tends to play fairly straight characters.

It is not often that Stiller is the one leaving you rolling in the aisles - think the Fockers series, Night at the Museum and Tropic Thunder.

In Tower Heist, it is more of the same.

Throw in a serious Eddie Murphy and you've missed a great opportunity to exploit two potentially funny men.

Tower Heist is more of a Robin Hood-style story.

The Tower is a luxury apartment complex in New York city with a dedicated staff doing everything possible to keep their residents happy.

Manager Josh Kovacs (Stiller) is the heart and soul of the place.

Trying to help out his staff, he asks the higher-flying residents to help invest the staff pension fund.

If only Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) was an honest businessman.

With all the money gone, Josh is determined to make up for his error of judgment.

With an unlikely crew at his side, Josh is convinced Shaw has some money stashed in his apartment - their money.

With the help of safe-cracker Slide (Murphy), the money will be theirs.

But this isn't a band of professional criminals and their antics in plotting and planning makes for fun viewing.

Tower Heist

certainly fits the bill for a low-key night in with a light story with a bit of fun and adventure thrown in.
