Parental Guidance was never going to threaten success at any big awards night but that doesn't mean it isn't a super way to spend an evening with your family.
This is simple yet funny viewing with a heart-warming storyline.
Diane and Artie Decker (Bette Midler andBilly Crystal) are the forgotten grandparents.
Their daughter Alice (Marisa Tomei), husband Phil (Tom Everett Scott) and children Harper, Turner and Barker live a very ordered life and the grandparents don't exactly fit in.
When Alice and Phil need to get away for a work function, Diane and Artie are reluctantly called in to fill the void.
With some trepidation, Alice and Phil head away hoping the grand-parents won't destroy the modern values they have installed in their children.
But Artie in particular is old-school and has never come to terms with modern technology and contemporary parenting techniques. He calls a spade a spade and jokes about most things.
On the face of it, Diane and Artie seem to be bringing this family crashing to the ground, but they are, in fact, showing Alice a thing or two about what real parenting means.
There are many hilarious moments along the way as the grandparents make things happens and institute some very real and positive changes in the children.
