Part love story, part fantasy, Midnight in Paris tells the story of Gil (Owen Wilson), a successful Hollywood scriptwriter who yearns for yester- year.

In Gil's mind, life in the 1920s was a beautiful and creative time and an era he would have thrived in as a novelist.

When he and his fiancee Inez (Rachel McAdams) join her parents on a business trip to Paris, Gil basks in his spiritual homeland.

He just wants to feel and breathe everything the City of Love has to offer.

Feeling a little lost with Inez's consumerism and love of wealth, Gil takes a mystery midnight stroll that ends in an improbable journey back in time.

Gil finds himself drinking with the likes of Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald and discussing literature with Gertrude Stein.

He is completely where he wants to be and living the life of his dreams.

Each night, he takes the same stroll back in time to enjoy the wonders of Paris in one of its most creative eras.

Sounds all very fanciful, but it does explore the issue of always wanting something else - only to find it is no better than what you have.

Gil longs for the Paris of the 1920s, but is that era any better than the Paris of the 1890s or the Los Angeles of 2010?

He is also forced to look at his life and his relationship with Inez and answer some important questions - like who is he and are they right for each other?

It is difficult not to be swept up in Gil's Parisian dream.
