DVD Review: I give it a year (+trailer)

I Give It a Year is a sneaky little film that delivers an unexpected number of laughs.

Using extremely clever writing and some wonderfully creative characters, it seems impossible to sit through this without laughing regularly.

Boasting a strong cast, this rom-com tracks the first year of marriage of Nat (Rose Byrne) and Josh (Rafe Spall).

Swept up in a whirlwind romance, the pair defy their obvious differences to tie the knot after just seven months together.

But the reality is they are very different people.

The omens aren't good from the start when Josh's best man Danny (the hilarious Stephen Merchant) does his best to destroy the marriage in his reception speech.

And it does go downhill from there for Nat and Josh.

Although the couple aren't prepared to give up on their marriage, matters are complicated by the arrival of two people they would much rather spend their lives with.

Chloe (a remarkably plain-looking Anna Faris) was Josh's girlfriend before she left to fulfil her humanitarian ideals in Africa.

Nat is torn when she meets a new client, Guy (Simon Baker) - and is swept away by his smooth demeanour and charm.

Be warned - every time Danny features, you know you are set for plenty of inappropriate humour.

I Give It A Year will keep you laughing and it's great value for a night with a DVD.
