This miniseries tracks the path that led to that day.
The protagonists - the Bandidos and the Comanchero motorcycle gangs - knew each other well. In fact, many used to be mates, which made the outcome even more incredible.
In 1980s Australia, motorcycle gangs were more about mateship and partying than organised crime.
Territory was important, as was respect.
The Comancheros were led by Supreme Commander Jock Ross (Matthew Nable), who was determined to make the club the strongest in Australia.
He recruited heavily and inadvertently introduced some disruptive elements to his club.
This ultimately caused a split and led to the formation of the Bandidos club, led by Jock's former right-hand man Anthony "Snoddy" Spencer (Underbelly's Callan Mulvey ).
And the seeds for Milperra were sown.
Like Underbelly, Bikie Wars is the almost unbelievable story of a "war" that really happened.
