Trying to extricate himself from his troubles, Miller's problems grow tenfold when a car accident leaves him with a dead mistress and a lot of damage control to do.
With his wife (Susan Sarandon) growing tired of his private and business dealings and a daughter (Brit Marling) growing suspicious of his company dealings, Miller has more than a business to sell; he must sell his story of innocence.
Key to his continuing freedom is Jimmy Grant (Nate Parker), a young black man who has known Miller for years.
