Chris Lilley has simply got too much talent and too much time. The Australian actor/writer/comedian/producer has created some wonderful television over the past six years and Angry Boys, his third series, is funny stuff.
He first brought us We Can Be Heroes in 2005 then the mockumentary Summer Heights High in 2007 gave us another wonderful array of characters.
Angry Boys mixes the new with the old - twin brothers Daniel and Nathan from the country town of Dunt in South Australia are back and are joined by newcomers Gran, S.mouse, Jen and Blake. As is his way, Lilley plays all the key characters.
Ruth Sims (Gran) is a favourite. She is a prison guard in a juvenile detention centre and has a wonderful honesty about her. She wins the respect of the boys with humour, profanity and some down-to-earth reality.
S.mouse is a black US rapper on house arrest. He is trying to cope with the restrictions on his personal life and career. Blake Oakfield is a surf gang leader while Jen Okazaki is a domineering mother/manager of her skateboarding champion son.
