Fullhouse Productions' upcoming show, Accidental Death of an Anarchist being staged at the Meteor Theatre in Hamilton from October 19, poses several questions.
Show producer Amanda Wallace, third-year theatre arts student at the University of Waikato, says the cast of six has been in rehearsal since last month, with full-dayrehearsals three times a week.
The play was written by Dario Fo in the early 1970s and looks at a real-life death involving a man held in police custody in Italy in 1969. The man died after he fell from a window in a police station, and the incident caused considerable controversy and exposed substantial corruption and malpractice in police and government organisations.
Subsequently, the play became one of the more popularly-performed shows in Europe.
Amanda Wallace, who last year produced a New Zealand play, Flagons and Foxtrots, says Accidental Death of an Anarchist will run for 11 public performances, with an additional two for schools.
The cast includes David Bower-Mason as Bertozzo; Matthew Powell as the maniac; Andrew Kaye as Inspector Pissani; Julia Watkins as the Superintendent; Antony-Paul Aiono as the Constable; and Alice Kennedy as Miss Feleti.
