Music from the golden age of Russian music, featuring Dame Malvina Major, is being presented by the New Zealand Russian (Waikato) Friendship Society.

Celebrating cultural unity, the March 9 concert will be held at St Peter's Anglican Cathedral, Hamilton at 2pm. Featuring with Dame Malvina are Galina Lykho, Valeriy Maxsymov.

The concert will highlight opera arias, piano, compositions and Russian music by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov, and great masters of the 20th century Shostakovich and Prokofiev plus Russian folk vocals and Maori vocals

There will also be an exhibition of paintings by renowned Russian painters resident in New Zealand including the "Olexander Disciples' collection. In addition, icons, samovars, porcelains, handcrafts, tapestry, medals and art work artifacts will be on show.

Tickets: Adults $35, concessions for groups and others by negotiation.
