Hair trends are taking a sophisticated twist this season, inspired by French haute couture and the clever use of accessories to accentuate subtle styles.
Classic looks from a bygone era have been revamped and modernised to give them an edgy, fresh new dimension.
L'Oreal Professionnel is leading the revival andshowed its Somptueux collection on the European catwalks recently. The styles will provide inspiration for hairdressers from around the world.
A salute to traditional haute couture elements, including attention to detail, intricate embellishments, tailoring and delicate fabrics, has transcended from clothing design to hair.
Flowers, feathers and woven braids enhanced the latest styles on the runway, and were constructed expertly to complement hair.
"Each of the three elements - the flowers, feathers and weaving - acknowledges the skill of milliners, feather-workers and embroiderers," says Gilbert.
