Young Gisborne band Sit Down in Front are set to hit the road for their Who Ate All The Pies tour. We ask the high schoolers about life as punk rock musicians in 2020.
1 Describe your sound in one sentence?
Hard, fast, and fun Gizzy Punk.
2 What doespunk rock mean to you in the current climate?
A form of music that lets us express ourselves even when the world's gone crazy. Punk will always exist no matter what's happening in the world.
3 What have the events of 2020 taught you about life and music?
Nothing's certain and sometimes you need to go with the flow. Follow your passion when it presents itself because it might be there tomorrow. Even when you're locked down, you will always have music.
4 What's one key message fans will get from listening to your new album?
Sit Down In Front is pretty fun and not everything in the world needs to be taken too seriously.
5 What's your favourite song to play live and why?
Don't Push The Button because it's high energy, gets the crowd pumping, and we feed off the crowd.
6 Until now what has been Gisborne's greatest contribution to pop culture?
Hands down Purple Gs!
7 What does success as a musician mean to you?
At this young stage of our lives, recording music and playing live show that people enjoy.
8 What would you tell a young person wanting to be a successful musician?
Use every opportunity that comes your way, especially playing live. Hone your skills as you can always be better. Try and go as big as you can every time. Underpromise and overdeliver.

9 Who or what excites you the most about music right now?
Playing live again, that's the best bit. Becoming part of the New Zealand music scene and meeting and working with talented people.
10 You can only fit one album by another artist on your device – what is it?
Nirvana – Nevermind (we know its not punk but it's a great album).
•The Who Ate All The Pies tour kicks off in Hastings on September 26 and takes in Gisborne (October 10), Napier (October 16), Taupo (October 17) and Auckland (October 31 as part of Punkoween).
