Students from several Whanganui secondary schools gathered at Girls' College on Thursday to show off their communication skills at a Junior Model United Nations event.
The students formed teams and were assigned to represent a particular United Nations country.
As well as dressing up to look the part of theirselected nation, they had to discuss world issues such as climate change, refugees and nuclear weapons from the perspective of their country.
A model United Nations event is designed to simulate discussions at an actual UN conference.
