Christmas Day slips have closed the Parapara road

Christmas Day slips have closed the Parapara road

A series of slips following heavy Christmas Day rain has forced the closure of State Highway 4 between Whanganui and Raetihi.

The Parapara was closed late on Tuesday night and the NZ Transport Agency says it will remain so until further notice.

The detour through state highways 3, 1 and 49 is expected to add 65 minutes to the journey for holiday travellers.
