Te Awamutu Brass concluded an unusual year by hosting a small Christmas Concert for family and friends of the Learners Group, run by Jean Fisher, and Senior Band, conducted by Sarah Carroll.
The afternoon was a great success, with some great toe tapping festive numbers followed by dessert and theawards ceremony.
Sarah says it has been an 'interesting year' and band members have missed playing around the Waipā and attending regional and national competitions.
A busy festive season gives members the chance to get out and play again with an audience.
Weather permitting, the band is out and about the streets of the town Monday to Thursday evenings from 6.30pm until sunset, with collectors in tow, for the Annual Christmas Carol Season.
Nothing says Christmas in Te Awamutu like the Brass Band playing carols from the back of a truck.
Te Awamutu Brass played in the Christmas Parade, St Saviours Church Pirongia Carol Service, Hoops & Scoops Fundraising Night last Friday and will be at the Whatawhata Cafe this Saturday from 11am until 1pm, Carols around the rest homes this Sunday from 10am until midday and play Highfield Retirement Village at 6pm.
"Christmas is one of our key fundraising opportunities and we love to help spread a little Christmas cheer round the neighbourhood," says Sarah.
