Save A gas leak has shut down Whangarei's Rust Ave and nearby buildings are being evacuated.
The road, which leads from the CBD, is home to the Whangarei District Council office and public library.
Police and the Fire Service were called about 11.30am and are now evacuating a number of buildings
in the area.
The public is asked to avoid the area.
