Weather-hit schools remain closed today

One school and one early childhood service that closed yesterday as a result of flooding have confirmed they will remain closed today.

Waiheke Primary School and First Steps Whangamata confirmed they would remain closed today, as more bad weather is expected to his the region.

Most other schools and early childhood services which closed yesterday planned to make decisions this morning about whether to re-open today.

Whangamata Area School announced on Facebook it would be open today but warned people travelling distance to get there to assess their journey.

The Ministry of Education advised it would be in contact with all those schools and services and any others affected by adverse weather events this morning and provide an update as soon as we have updates from them.
