Four vehicles crash at Hikurangi, closing State Highway 1

State Highway 1 is blocked at Hikurangi after an accident this morning.

Two people were seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash at Hikurangi, north of Whangarei, this morning.

Two cars and two trucks collided about 8.20am at the intersection of Jordan Valley Rd and State Highway 1, blocking the highway.

Detours are in place through Hikurangi town.

The crash is expected to cause significant delays in Whangarei.
