Motorists are being urged to take care when travelling on State Highway 29 on the Kaimai Range after a crash which is slowing traffic down this afternoon.

A truck and car collided on SH29, near Poripori Rd about 1.35pm.

A police communications spokeswoman said no one had been seriously hurt in the crash but a person was reporting a slightly sore chest.

The car was still on the highway and a bystander wearing hi-visibility clothing was helping co-ordinate traffic, the spokeswoman said.

"Traffic is flowing slowly but both lanes are open. People will want to drive carefully through there."
