The two men accused of indecently assaulting teen girls at Mount Maunganui beach shortly after New Year celebrations have been named.

Pradeep Jain, 21, and Harpreet Mavai, 24, appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday.

The men are charged in relation to an incident where two teenage girls were indecently assaulted on the beach in the early hours of January 2.

Jain faced a sole charge of indecent assault while Mavai faced two indecent assault charges.

The pair were remanded on strict bail terms, including surrendering their passports, and are due back in court later this month.
