Tauranga man named in fatal Waikato smash

The Tauranga man who died when a car and truck collided in the Waikato has been named.

Salesman Jason McCallum had been driving the car on State Highway 27 near Tahuna on Thursday when the collision happened.

The 12-year-old passenger who had been sitting in the rear seat suffered multiple serious injuries and was flown to Waikato Hospital.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the crash, which happened on a straight stretch of road.
