Foyer fight at Kaitaia station

ALTERCATION: Detective Mark Dalziel speaking to people allegedly involved in an altercation at the Kaitaia Police Station.

Four people have been arrested after fighting in the Kaitaia Police Station foyer.

The incident happened during lunch hour on Tuesday.

Detective Mark Dalziel said problems between the four had been brewing since a feud a couple of months ago that came to a head at The Warehouse and continued at the Kaitaia Police Station later in the day.

Punches were thrown that resulted in a few scratches and bruises.

Two men and two women are facing charges of disorderly behaviour and assault.

They've been bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Mr Dalziel said luckily the station had enough staff to deal with the situation when it came to a head.
