Teams gear up for Stafford Choat Knockout finals

Tikipunga and Morningside will be a hive of activity this weekend as the finals of football's Stafford Choat Knockout Competition take place today and tomorrow.

With 10 teams involved, men's matches start from 12pm in Tikipunga today while the women's finals will take place are tomorrow from 11am in Morningside.

FC Whangarei and Kerikeri's premier team will play for the big trophy in men's grade while Kamo women's and Kerikeri High School will battle it out for the women's honours. The Kerikeri High School girls' 1st XI head into the Northland Women's Knockout Cup final tomorrow in Morningside - where they will face Kamo - well prepared, having just returned from the Kathy Seaward Tournament in Tauranga.

Tomorrow's kick-off is at 1pm, with the curtain raiser seeing Kerikeri Siteworx taking on Hora Hora in the Plate final at 11am.

The Kathy Seaward Tournament, from September 1-5, saw Kerikeri play eight games over five days to finish 9th out of 24 teams.

The Kerikeri colours of blue and yellow will be flying high at Tikipunga and Morningside, with Kerikeri premier and reserves teams contesting the Stafford Choat Cup and Plate finals today while Kerikeri High School and Kerikeri Siteworx feature in the women's Knockout Cup and Plate finals day tomorrow.

Kerikeri club chairman James Coleman exhorted the wider Far North football community to get along on either or both days and support the four Kerikeri sides in their respective quests.

Stafford Choat finals
- Men: Tikipunga Sports Ground, Saturday
- Cup: FC Whangarei NMP vs Kerikeri NMP, 2.30pm.
- Bowl: FC Whangarei NM3 vs Tikipunga Coastline NM3, 12pm.
- Plate: FC Whangarei NM1 vs Kerikeri Reserves NM1, 12pm.
- Women: Morningside Park, Sunday
- Cup: Kamo NWP vs Kerikeri High School NWP, 1pm.
- Plate: Kerikeri Siteworx NWP vs Hora Hora NWP, 11am.
