Sport across Northland is set for a big two days as top of the table clashes and must-win matches coincide this weekend.
Football's second and third ranked teams, Tikipunga and Kamo, in the premier men's competition meet in a must-win clash for both sides as they look to keep withinstriking distance of the table-topping Kerikeri side.
Both sides are coming into the clash with some good football under their belts, with Kamo beating Madhatters 6-0 last weekend and Tikipunga narrowly losing to Kerikeri 2-1, which should lead to a tense and entertaining match.
In rugby, this weekend also sees the Bayleys Southern Districts Premier Competition crack into its second round of competition, kicking off with a top of the table clash between Kamo and Mid Northern.
Mid Northern will be up against it as Kamo looks to put on a good show during what will double as a fundraiser for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation as Kamo will wear special pink and white-hooped jerseys, which will see the number 20 jersey raffled after the game.
Taniwha player Bryce Williams said last year a member of the Kamo rugby club received treatment for cancer and club members have since decided to raise money every year towards the cause.
Also of interest in this weekend's club rugby scene, Waipu will look to secure their third win in a row as they take on Old Boys Marist.
Meanwhile, this weekend's hockey sees back-to-back games for the premier men's and women's teams.
