A Kyle Mack hat-trick helped Kamo bounce back from a loss last week as his side cruised home 6-0 over Madhatters.
Kamo coach Nick Smith said it was good to see his side press on and not dwell on last week's 1-0 loss to Kerikeri.
"We spoke as a teamat the end of the Kerikeri game, and it wasn't down to a poor performance but sometimes games go that way and that is disappointing," Smith said. "But, I don't think it creates a problem [moving on]."
Smith said Saturday's win showed how much potential and character his side has as they look ahead to chasing down the table-topping Kerikeri side.
"I think the quality of our attacking play was great," he commented about the weekend's match. "We managed to create a lot of opportunities and put them away."
He said while the scoreline may have looked flattering, if it was another day some of Madhatters' chances may have been converted.
Smith said his player of the match was Jacob Manaton, who produced a strong performance as he continued his journey back to form after missing games over the past few seasons.
In other premier men's football, Tikipunga lost to Kerikeri 2-1. Bream Bay's match against Central Brown was postponed.
Next weekend sees Central Brown host Kerikeri, Madhatters take on Bream Bay at home, and Kamo battle it out with Tikipunga in Kamo.
Smith believes next weekend's showdown with Tikipunga will be a must-win for both sides if they want to win the competition.
"After last week, Kerikeri were four [points] ahead and a game in hand, so there's not much room to slip for us, or Tikipunga, if we're going to keep at the heels of Kerikeri."
