Kaikohe boxer Daniella Smith will be the headline act for Northlanders when Joseph Parker takes on South Africa's Francois Botha in nearly three weeks' time.
The 40-year-old "Diamond" Smith will throw down against Australia 12-1 boxer Sarah "Missy" Howett for two world championship belts on June 13 as part ofthe undercard of the much anticipated heavyweight Parker v Botha fight.
Smith, a former world champion who now lives in Auckland, will be looking at leaving The Trusts Arena in Auckland after the 10 two-minute rounds with the WBF Women's World Welterweight and WIBA Women's Light Welterweight belts.
Fighting on the Parker-Botha undercard gives Northlanders a rare opportunity to watch Smith on television, with another rare occasion being in last year's Fight For Life event.
And, after having only lost three times as a professional - one of those a unanimous decision loss to the 30-year-old Howett who, in a previous career played the role of Viper on the Australian TV hit Gladiator - it should make for an entertaining match-up.
Smith, who has a 12-3 record, is New Zealand's most decorated female boxer, joining a select group of Kiwis to have won a professional world title when she defeated the favoured German Jennifer Retzke to claim the IBF Welterweight title in 2010.
In the lead up to Botha's fight against Parker, the "White Buffalo" will visit Whangarei to have a training session with Tim Bowman at the Whangarei Boxing Gym on June 3 where Botha has made time to sit down with the Northern Advocate.
Also fighting in the lead up to the Parker-Botha bout is Botha's son, Marcel, who will also sit down with the Northern Advocate. He takes on Jeremy Sebastian, younger brother of Australian singer Guy Sebastian.
Adding to the undercard will also be former All Black Inga Tuigamala's son, Jordon, - with 15 amateur wins already locked away - who will step into the national consciousness for the first time.
A celebrity bout will feature rival breakfast radio stations Mai FM's Nickson Clark and The Rock's Bryce Casey.
Duco Events are promising the night's final bout will create as much buzz as any of their other undercard feature fights.
